Over the time the list of saved Enscape setups grows and grows and in a few months, if I reopen a project after some time, I will need to search for the right setup from a long list. Please, don’t forget to implement that the Enscape setup is saved to the Rhino project file. The current saving to a global list is not a solution on the long run for users who use Enscape often.
Hi @Micha
I know that this is a very reasonable feature request. Unfortunately it means quite some investment from our side, because it’s not simply enough to save all settings into the model. Users have different needs, and where one user wants to have settings per model, others want that exact same setting per view or rolled out in the whole company. So we have to come up with a way to allow settings to be partially defined by many ways, to form a complete set of settings. Partially defining settings of course means that we have to come up with a clever way to show this in the GUI.
@Simon_Weinberger At Vray for Rhino the setup is saved to the Rhino file. (Over the years it are hundred of setups.) I can export an setup to the hard disk and load it later.
Maybe an Escape project setup could contain several sub setups at the drop down menu. This collection is saved to the Rhino file and not available at the next opened project. But the user could save the project setup with all sub-setups to a single text file on the hard disk and load it later. So, we would get the functionality like at VfR, the current multi setup drop down list could be kept and we would avoid to see hundred of projects at the drop down list. Only export/import functionality for the project setup needs to be added.
Please don’t wait to long for a solution since the list is growing and it’s cumbersome to look for the right setup, if in the time between a project was last opened, other projects was done.
So, at the moment I open my product design project and it starts to show me the last tram project setup. I need to find the right product design project setup at the list and to load it. But maybe this cause that the my last tram setup get lost, since maybe I forget it to save the last tram setup state.
And additional over the days often I jump between different project for different clients. If I would use Enscape for every project, than I would be lost in switching project setups.
Could the “Save settings” not give an option on where to save the settings? So you could put the settings in the same location as the project. (Default to the same location as the project file that the native application is working on.)
The problem is not so much where it is saved, the problem is that it need to be saved. Every render plugin automatic save the render setup in the Rhino file. The problem is, if you open project B, that you see the setup of previous project A. Rhino file and setup are not connected.
