Mouse control workaround for remote desktop?

anyone found a workaround for the mouse control in remote desktop?

nope, never works for realtime. Doesn’t work for lumion either and never has

This affects all 3D application accessed via RDP.

You may be able to optimize the behavior with this information:

Does this happen with teamviewer too? I’ve never tried it.

@tedvitale.cg I actually don’t know that. But it should work differently as you use an existing desktop via teamviewer instead of using a virtual one “without limits” via RDP.

Ill try and give it a go and share my results.

Unfortunately it’s the same problem with Team Viewer. Have anyone found a good solution for this?

Some years before I used Radmin, one of the fastest solutions for remote desktop.

(unhelpful post of the day) Better machine / longer lead.

If I remote across to one of our offices in a different city, it works perfectly, but if I remote from one room to another here within our office I get the problem of the super, super sensitive mouse that makes the operator look drunk and makes everyone else at the presentation get seasick !

Hi @Kamranmirza , what Remote Desktop application are you using?

VDI systems have an option “Enable Relative Mouse” which fixes this issue. Please check if your RDP client has this or an comparable option and try to activate the “Enable Relative Mouse” option (Options → Enable Relative Mouse). See this article of VMware for a little bit more details.

Hi Kaj,

I think we just use the standard Windows Remote Desktop. At least that’s what I think it is. Screenshot below:

In that case, I’m afraid, there is nothing we can recommend at this point.

This is a known issue occurring when using a Remote Desktop solution, which is why we recommend not to use Enscape with Remote Desktop solutions at all.

Yeah, through Teamviewer its a bit wonkie, but if you are working in-scene the “match view” function seems to work well to mitigate the camera issues directly in the Enscape window.

That said, it might be cool to have a view-port render/overlay on the sketchup view-port similar to what Thea and V-Ray do. It would allow you to navigate the view through the SketchUp window directly using the SketchUp navigation, and that could be neat.

Ahh. OK. Thanks Kaj. Query closed. Is this something that is likely to be resolved ? Or is this a permanent known issue.

@Kamranmirza What Kaj tried to say that this is a known basic issue of the Remote Desktop Protocol of Windows or controlling virtual/remote desktops in general.

Enscape can’t do anything about it.

The RDP/VDI connection has to be modified. Please refer tothe google search about sensitive mouse via RDP.

@Jonathan_Knoefel Great, thank you for that comprehensive reply.

Hi there,

Our firm runs on Mac with the exception of one PC we use for VR and more recently Enscape. We’ve successfully remote accessed the PC from our iMacs and are able to access Sketchup, but are unable to run Enscape.

Has any progress been made on RDP and Sketchup/Enscape since the last post in May?

Thank you

Hi @rhoarchitects Great to hear that you’d like to use Enscape on all of your workstations.

Unfortunately we’re not able to solve Microsofts issue with their Remote-Desktop-Protocol.

You could try to start Enscape locally before accessing the workstation via RDP.

Hi guys,

mouse working remote. For this you can use Flexihub software. Since the mouse is usb connected, there will be no problems with sharing the device.

It’s a two part server/workstation software enabling for remote USB and found it here:
