At this stage they are on-site positions only, unfortunately.
I get asked this a lot and there are a few key reasons why I’m looking for on-site staff:
1. Communication - we (as I’m sure many offices) operate under tight schedules and rely on clear communication throughout the day between team members. That often means walking to another person’s desk to explain a comment or draw a quick sketch;
2. Non-project resources - when project work is not frantic, in-house staff do other things like creating additional resources, cataloguing, R&D, etc.;
3. Reliability - freelancers have many clients and can’t be expected to keep time available for when I, specifically, need it.
These are just a few key reasons, and I don’t mean to sound down on freelancers. Our current situation just demands that we get some more in-house talent. If/when that changes this will be the first place that I visit!
