trying to explore exterior details, exploring the ability of bump mapping.

Re: my exterior tests
the wall is a bump map. btw, the advantage of using linked su material is you can see automatically your map to the surface. i carved the image of the lion and using push pull removed deleted it from the surface thhus creating a negative surface. the background is a photo of catba island in the halong bay (a world heritage in north vietnam, near china), i stood it vertically and re-mapped in on the perspective view to match the horizon line.
this has no post processing. only playing on maps and bump maps.
Re: my exterior tests
Nice test…but the bump on the stone wall needs to be reversed I think (made negative in Pshop) ![]()
Re: my exterior tests
sending the image post process by another filipino aka. Bokkins

Nomer
Another very impressive image. The bump on the wall is quite dramatic and it is great to have such an awsome background.
I actually prefer your first image - its very sharp and the colour is more saturated.
(I think the joints in the stone need to be recessed - not projecting)
The lions look terrific. The bump map must be interesting!

Re: my exterior tests
david, the background is halong bay.. its a unesco site in vietnam. it composed of more than 3000 outcrops projecting out from the sea. as for the joints, biebel and you are correct, i just desaturate it in black and white and did not inverted it.
