my first vray'nder

greetings to all,

i am showing you my first vray render. as a noob in vray, please do guide me in what must be done in order to achieve a much better output, may not be as good as you execute, but atleast i could grab tips from you guys, whom i consider the experts.

Re: my first vray’nder

welcome jonaldo and mabuhay.

i must say you have a good start. and as we always beleive trial and error + dedication is always the good mentor. ask mikaztro and he is always a fine example of this.

as for the image, try to experience between the different Global Illumination engines. let say combination of IR and Light catche. IMHO IR as primary and Light catch as secondary has good quality and fast rendering. of course QMC is much accurate but the rendering time is just a killer.

Re: my first vray’nder

nice one… try reducing the sun multiplier a bit so that u can avoid those hot spots!!
u can also try out some presets like vlados universal settings and my favourite.. mados settings..
p.s : how did u do that roof tiles?? displacement (i never get displacement correctly on my roofs :frowning: ) or did u model it out?? ::slight_smile:

Re: my first vray’nder

ok thank you very much. ill try rendering it now with a lower setting of sun multiplier. currently it has the default value of 1.

and yeah, forgive me if i sound so noob, but where shall i get the vlados and the mados settings ???

the truth about the displacement of roof tiles, it actually gave me a headache coz i cant seem to make the displacement work in my model, so i recreated the roof with the right displacement in a new sheet, then import my model into the sheet where the good roof tiles is. then i replaced the models roof with the new one then… teden!!! I hopped for joy after seeing that it worked. ;D
anyways, thank you for the tips jenujacob.

Re: my first vray’nder

so ur telling me if u copy ur roof into another file without another geometry it will render correctly??? how did u manage to copy the vismat into ur real file???
this has given me new hope for displacement!!
u can download mados settings here…Chaos: Industry-leading design and visualization software_smf&Itemid=90&action=dlattach;topic=2665.0;attach=198

Re: my first vray’nder

uhmm… im doing the other way around.

this is how i did it…

1) save ur model as a component and store in the component’s folder

2 open a new sketchup

3 recreate the roof profile in the blank sketchup
apply the desired displacement setting.

4 open the component of your model

5 replace the old roof with the modified one

6 render

hey!!! thanks for the setting. im excited to try it ryt away. thanks!!!
