Here I will add some of my test renders from time to time.
This is red plastic with some translucency. Done with VrayMtl only.
looks pretty awesome to me!
Send us the setup Jiriku ![]()
I will prepare it…
So here it is. You can use texture I used or put there any other dirt map just for glossiness and bump, doesnt matter for translucency.
Hope you like it. ![]()

@Syclone1 by the way, how are you satisfied with Threadripper 2990WX? I just bought it, I will put it together at weekend, so I am curious. Thank you.
@Syclone1 I move our talk about hardware here: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/…436-amd-2990wx (if someone interested)
About glass, I made this green edge with refraction exit color. In Vray Next this function was removed, but there is probably bug, that if any material using exit color from previous versions, VRay leave it that way although you cant edit it. In VRay Next you should use fog color or make another material ID for glass edge and modify material for it.
ah ok thanks for the info
Really like the lightbulbs, was doing something similar recently. Is the material just a vray light material or have you used a different technique?
Yes, its VRay Light material.
These images look great. What did you do to get this nice tonemapping?
Thank you. Some VFB corrections, little bit of LUT and some Camera RAW contrast in PS.
Jiri, Wow, the bathroom images are my favorites. Did you use the the Vray lens effects or add in post?
Anyway, I always struggle with tiny spaces but your cameras are really nicely positioned. Brute Force GI?
Okay, I’ll stop pestering ![]()
VRay lens effects and maybe corona lens effects too from CIE, not sure now. But I used some abberation in post too so effects may look little bit different.
Sure, its Brute force + Light Cache, I think best way now in VRay.
And about camera position, I sometimes use little trick - put camera behind wall so camera take almost whole room at some good focal lenght, let say 35. And for this wall disable visible to camera. Whole room is rendered ok, wall is in GI, reflection etc. but camera has good perspective. Sometimes with small rooms its much better this way then put camera inside the room and set focal lenght under 30 or move camera to the top right corner of the room
No one really see camera doesnt fit in that room, still looks natural - camera position, angle and shot is much better. We are not photographers so we can use things we cant in real world. ![]()
