NDAS (network direct attached storage) cannot detect mediagate MG-35 storage on win xp64??
anyone has solution?
Don’t think you’re going to find an answer on these forums. Not very many of us are using XP64, and of those that are, I doubt that any are using the particular NAS setup you’re describing. (I barely even understood what you are asking about)

hi guys. ok heres the setup,
our office bought this new NDAS disk storage, its a HDD storage directly connected to a local network via the ethernet.
Problem is, only win 32 bit could detect this Baby but not those systems with XP64 OS installed.
i posted this problem on every tech forum i visit, might also get a chance for answers here.
i myself didnt understand my words posted above. i guess i was just very tired and exhuasted then trying to solve this NDAS problem

i also use network attached storage, the sc 101 from netgear.
i have the same problem: not able to use the drives from x64.
netgear wont release drivers.
the solution is to attach the unit via network to a 32 bit machine and attach it with a shared drive letter.
so if you have to access the drive from a 64 bit OS you will see it if you connect to the 32 bit computer.
i am sure this will work for your unit, too.
Yes it does work, i tried it before, but what we wanted was this drive to be independent from any CPU, being a small server by itself.
we have this MediaGate MG-35, its drivers are developed by Ximeta.

yes, it sucks that you have to run another computer just to make it accessible.
and i think it gets slower, too.
i will get a DNS 323 next.
i asked on another forum and they told me its no problem to use it with x64.
I dont know what brand of NAS we use here at the office, but we had same issues. We got a replacement eventually that WOULD work. I think we also found that Windows server 64bit worked with the older NAS box I think. Might check into that.
does DNS 323 really work with xp64? is there any reference that states this fact?

there is no official info from d-link.
Any network storage that requires additional drivers on the client computers is a baaad idea (and not suprising that drivers don’t exist for XP64).
For future reference, you should buy a NAS device that serves up the files over SMB. That way any computer that can use the SMB standard (any Windows device, OSX, and most flavors of *NIX) will be able to access the files stored on the device.

SMB is the connection protocol that Windows uses by default when you access shares on other computers or servers.
Basically every other modern OS out there also supports this protocol.
the dns-323 supports smb.
you can even access it over the internet or use it as an ftp-server.
