Need Help Building new Set Up 2 GTX 1080 and 1 RTX 2080 GPU is this possible?

Hi

Planing to upgrade my system currently i have 2 GTX 1080 and getting RTX 2080 does this set up really work in Asus Sage x299? with 4 sli GPU.
All technicians here doesnt know this GPU rendering stuff, they always say it should be same GPU and doesn’t work with different GPU.

The Sage X299 can equip up to 7 GPUs, not just 3
Let me know what power supply you have, what CPU and the model of your 1080s
If you have the FE 1080 cards, you should be able to add an RTX 2080 or even 2..depending on your powersupply
if you have 3rd party cards, some of them have massive heatsinks which can block adjacent PCIe slots
Just let me know the model of your cards, powersupply, case, CPU and I will tell you exactly how you should appoach this

I planned on building a 3 GPU system, but was unpleasantly surprised when my case wouldn’t allow for the 3rd card. On the bright side, I now have a backup GPU. I guess since this is upgrading an existing system, you’ll be able to measure for room before you order the new card…but a warning to others reading this: make sure your case can fit the bottom card!

(BTW, I used the Phanteks Evolv X…but I think a lot of the new cases have the shroud over the power supply running across bottom of case now that blocks the 3rd PCI slot…)

You can still mount the third card vertically, and use a riser cable to connect it to the PCIe slot, see here

Or even leave the card on your disk.. find a x16 PCIe riser that is shielded, it will do a good job

Hi as now are getting more info about multiple GPU Set Up, so replacing new power supply is no issue at all.
This set up is for the company that i work, do you have tips and recommendations for the multiple gpu Set Up and what to avoid?

Do you have tips for Multitple GPU Set up? Replacing parts is no issue.

Here are few tips,
-Stick with blower style cards like Asus Turbo or Aorus Turbo, because these offer best cooling in multi-GPU setups(hot air is ejected through the back of the card).. Another reason is that blower cards are only dual-slot, other 3rd party cards with triple fan design will be 3 slots or 3 and half slots, and they will cover other PCIe slots.
-For 3 cards + an i9 you will need 1300 watts at least, specially if you OC your CPU or cards, and 1600 Watts for 4 RTX cards.. They consume more power than Pascal specially the 2080Ti
-You probably need AC in your room for best temps, and good airflow in your case
-For more than 4 cards on your X299 Sage, you will need to use riser cables, and mount your cards in an external rack. Shielded x16 risers works best, and you will not lose any performance. This board can equip up to 7 GPUs like what I said(another option is custom liquid cooling, which will allow you to mount the cards directly to Mobo without risers)
