Does anyone know how to tell how many network connections are used on a XP pro machine (both incoming and outgoing)?

Max 10 on professional unless youre behind a domain/windows server.

I guess you could use a tool like netmon:

Administrative Tools → Computer Management → Shared Folders → Sessions

You can see currently active network connections too.

tcpview is nice, too
also shows more info and lets you kill connections
