New Corona Image Editor annoyances

I recently upgraded to Corona 14 so forgive me if some of these have been mentioned before.

  1. If you region render to correct something in the VFB and then save as CXR, after opening in the Image Editor Bloom & Glare applies only to the region re-rendered. This did not happen in Corona 12.
  2. Make the right column area resizable please, in order to be able to read longer light names. Right now if you have a long light name you have no option to read its full name. In Corona 12 when you clicked in the light color the name of the light was in the Color Select window title.
  3. What is the need for the option to bake lightmix color/intensities to the scene lights?
  4. Corona AI Enhancer should be available in the Image Editor.
  5. The icon to load PostProcessing settings in the Post tab should have an arrow pointing down not up, in my opinion.
  6. Auto Adjustment doesn’t seem to work when you region render before saving as CXR.

Overall I like the UI responsiveness with the update but right now it seems like the Image Editor is a detached standalone VFB and not given the attention it needs.

Hi, thanks for your reports! Here are my comments:

  1. This is not strictly related to CIE, the same thing happens in the Corona VFB. This is already reported as (Report ID=CMAX-1261).
  2. This is now logged as (Report ID=CMAX-2279).
  3. The LightMix “bake” option can be useful in various cases. Here is one example: if you increase or decrease a LightSelect intensity by a lot (for example change a light’s intensity from 1 to 100), you will most likely end up with a very noisy image since Corona can’t sample that light efficiently. If you bake its intensity, Corona will be able to efficiently sample this new intensity. Another one: if you have a lot of LightMix items and you use denoising, you may end up with high RAM usage and slow denoising phase. Baking LightMix will help with both things.

Hi Maru, thanks for the reply.

About 1, in Corona 12 Bloom&Glare also applied only to regions re-rendered in the VFB, but when you saved in CXR the effect was applied to the whole image.
About #3, I know the purpose of baking light colors/intensities when in the VFB, but in the standalone Image Editor these buttons should be omitted, since you are no longer tied to an open scene.

Got it. I just made this extra clear in our internal report.

Ah, right, this is already fixed in our internal builds and will be available in the next preview build and full release.
