Forum Intro Guide - Work in Progress
Hello everyone, and a warm welcome to the new Chaos Forum!
We are incredibly excited to have you here. We know that any new platform takes some getting used to, especially for our power users from the old Corona and Chaos forums. This guide is designed to help you quickly master the new features and tailor the experience to your exact preferences.
Please keep in mind that this is a living document. As the new forum evolves and as we gather your valuable feedback, we will continuously update and expand this guide to make it as helpful as possible.
Let’s dive in!
1. Catching Up: “New” vs. “Unread”
This can be a common point of confusion. Here’s how to think about it:
-
“New” Tab: Shows you all topics you have never seen before across the entire forum since your last visit. Its purpose is discovery.
-
“Unread” Tab: Shows you updates only to topics you have already read, replied to, or are “Tracking.” Its purpose is follow-up. This will become your personal, customized feed.
Pro-Tip: Mark Everything as Read
Have a ton of “unread” posts from the migration? On the homepage, look for a “Dismiss…” button (in the top right). This will clear your queue and give you a fresh start.
2. Creating Your Perfect Feed (The Most Important Section!)
Do you only want to see updates from the Corona or Enscape categories, just like the old forum? This is how you do it.
The key is to use the “Unread” tab combined with Category Notification Levels.
-
Go to the Main “Categories” Page.
-
Find a category you care about (e.g., “Corona for Cinema 4D”).
-
On the right side, click the dropdown menu (it’s a
bell icon). -
Set it to “Tracking”.
When a category is set to “Tracking,” all new replies and topics from that category will automatically appear in your “Unread” tab.
Simply set all the categories you care about to “Tracking,” and your “Unread” tab will become your personalized feed, showing you only the content you want to see. You do not need to “Mute” all the other categories unless you want to be extra tidy.
3. Power-User Tips & Tricks
-
Customize Your Sidebar (Important!): Don’t like the default category list on the left? Click the pencil
icon next to the “Categories” header to create your own custom list of your favorite sections for quick navigation. -
Reply to Multiple Posts at Once (Multi-Quote):
-
Highlight text in the first post you want to quote and click the + Quote button.
-
Do the same for other posts.
-
Click the “Reply (X Quotes)” button that appears at the bottom to compose a single reply with all your selected quotes.
-
