New solvers = faster simulations, GPU support

Are you guys planning to implement any new solvers to phoenix fd like the ones bellow?

I just saw a couple of videos where they talk about just two examples

1. Adaptive Fluid Simulation Solver where only it is important that’s where you get the most particles https://youtu.be/dH1s49-lrBk?t=57s

2. Narrow Band Flip Solver where particles are reduced by 19x just because they are on a surface only https://youtu.be/nfPBT71xYVQ?t=20s

Any plans for GPU/Multi GPU support. I just saw some solvers doing 10 mil particles almost in real time. I am amazed how many solvers are out there but they never get implemented into plugins etc.

We are quite interested in experimenting with new methods, but please keep in mind that the main reason you don’t see many of these methods implemented in actual software is because sadly, quite often they have serious fundamental issues which are omitted from the presentation and it’s up to the person implementing such methods to find out the hard way that the algorithm is not actually viable. However, each such paper of course contains very interesting insights and ideas, which are nevertheless quite useful to keep track of.

I hope soon we’ll have more interesting additions to the simulation :slight_smile:
