New VRay Antialiasing Filters

Hi
Could someone please explain the difference between the New VRay Antialiasing Filters???

I have read that the Lanczos is a blurring filter and the Sinc is a sharpening filter…but what are the Box and Triangle Filters???

Using different filters can affect render times quite dramatically, I normally use Catmull-Rom, which one of these new VRay Filters is the most similar???

Thanks in advance

L

Hello just look here :

Best regards…

Yeah I have looked already
But doesn’t cover the new Vray filters???

The box filter is similer to the area one, only it does not use a disc to blur the image, but a small square. It is not recommended to use it.

The triangle filter is similar to the area one (also uses a disc), but is slightly less blurry.

Vlado

Ummm. Why would you want to use these then?

They are more or less standard filters in CG… so if you need to match the AA of passes done with different renderers you may need them.

Vlado

Make sens

Chris + Vlado = Too smart it makes me feel stupid.

All this information hurts my head. Buffer run overflow. Scan disk needed. The defragger is broken.

thanks for the replies

Will stick with catmull and sinc then
