new vray blend mat (carpaint) test

It’s just small sample just to show you how vray blend mat looks for car paint:) Get ready casue soon everyone will post car renders  It’s so simple and easy:). Poor Suurland

Hey man that’s looking really good.

nice, do you have a bigger image?

thats nothing new, everyone use a normal blend materials for cars anyway, the only thing the new vrayblend mtl does better is speed I guess.

is it right to use blend materials ? i am using the “shellac method”. are there any advantages when using blend materials?

Regards H.Kroeber

avoiding unrealistic oddities like overbright reflections :stuck_out_tongue:

 maybe it’s just me but with standard max shellac I couldn’t achieve this kind of nice looking carpaint.

But shellac is not blend.

And what are exacly your parameters to acheive such results ?

they exactly the way Master Vlado said they should be:

"A typical car paing material would be a VRayMtl as a base material, with diffuse and glossy components, and a VRayMtl with pure white mirror reflections and black diffuse as a coat material.

To adjust the strength of the mirror reflections, change the blend amount in the blend material.

In general, you should avoid the additive (shellac) mode - there is rarely any case where you would want it.

Best regards,
Vlado"

Master Vlado always listen, you should

thx

AMEN

How the hell does master Vlado know so much - it scares me…

spooky! isn’t it

Vlado is the only god I believe in… Vray god that is…

Speed is one thing.. but it also solves the issue of Shellac and Blend not working nicely with the vray render elements.

Yeah I read that in the help file, sounds nice. But the renderings lukx made can still be made with a normal blend material, so nothing new in that aspect.

Thomas, I just saw your photo directory, you’re a wonderful photographer in addition to your CG mastering ! A reference for all of us

Did u use any map to blend the two materials or just a plain color? I ve playing with VrayBlendMtl and the render u got looks like a vraymaterial with a falloff map in the glossiness. Did u use a falloff to blend the two maps?

Thanks!
