Anybody have a solution to this???
Clients often send skp files done in the latest version, but max can’t import the latest version.
Few years ago we could get access to the Sketchup SDK and there was a file in there that you could copy over to max to make it work. The SDK is no longer “freely” accessible and you need to sign up as a developer.
Besides actaully buying the pro version, does anybody have a way around this?
yes, save the file in skp in older version.
thats the obvious answer. I was looking for something that dont require client intervention

the max 2019 help says only up to skp 2014 is supported, and they still call it GOOGLE sketchup
Hey Morne, you can upload the skp model to the sketchup warehouse site, keep it private so only you can access it, then download it as any version you need.
that only works if the file is smaller than 50mb
it’s going to be very difficult to do it without a trial version, Trimble just released 2019 a few days ago and nothing is going to be compatible… I’m still in 2018 and I’ll be there for several months, If I download 2019 I only have 30 days to migrate and I won’t be able to use 2018.
2019 doesn’t have many new important features so I would say that most of the SketchUp user would be in 2018 for a long time.(Trimble is learning from Autodesk)
Yeah, Autodesk needs to get on board with new file formats. We discussed this on the AD forum a few months back. They said nobody has ever requested it, so they haven’t bothered working on it.
