night lighting

Hi everyone, can someone help me with a strange effect of the lights?

I leave an attachment to see the problem.

Thank you!

Thanks for your post!

This behavior is well known and entirely normal if you’re mainly making use of self-illuminated (emissive) materials to light your scene - We instead highly reccomend using actual light sources.

You can still have some self-illuminating surfaces of course, but the main light should come from lights.

Hope that helps, if you still experience this issue or any other afterward let me know.

First of all thanks for your fast answer!
I don’t used self-illuminated materials but only light sources, point light from rhino. Is it possible that it’s the problem?

Thanks for your quick reply as well.

After further investigation based on your screenshot it seems that you may not have NVIDIA’s denoising activated? In other words, you may be using an AMD card and/or an older NVIDIA GPU?

Using that denoising feature really helps with clearing the noise, which is especially evident in dark scenes. If you do not have access to it, you may want to perhaps also reduce the brightness of your lights, especially if the lights are only placed around the ground but light up the rest of the scene. On top of that you can also try adding lights coming from the homes/balconies, which should help especially when the light intensity of the existing ground-level lights is lowered.

Last but not least, you can import a custom Skybox which also adds light into the scene. One example night sky HDR Skybox file can be found here. Afterward you can set the time of day to night again (or reduce the sun brightness) and make sure to adjust the brightness of your custom Skybox:

Generally, the less dark areas are lit up by just a few strong lightsources the better. Using more lighting spread throughout the scene and/or adding additional lights through a custom Skybox is reccomended. Enscape is a real time renderer of course so one of the limitations can be noise (as seen in your screenshot) in low-light scenes.

I hope that helps!
