No AMD GPU detected with V-Ray 7.40 (RX 6800 XT, Maya 2027, Blender 5.2)

Hi all,

I’ve been excited to try V-Ray GPU for AMD HIP since it was announced way back. With V-Ray 7.40 finally out for my preferred software (Maya 2027 and Blender 5.2), I was finally able to start testing.

However, upon installing, I quickly found out that my AMD GPU (RX 6800 XT) could not be detected. In Maya, HIP doesn’t show up in the GPU Engine and Device dropdown.

I am already on the most up-to-date version of the AMD Adrenalin drivers.

To check if it’s just a problem with V-Ray for Maya, I also installed V-Ray for Blender and acquired a Community Edition license. My GPU does not appear there either:

I also have downgraded my drivers to 26.2.2, but that did not help. Now, I’m back to the latest version, 26.6.4, but still, no luck.

This is rather disappointing. I’m hopeful that this could be easily resolved.
