No mask for Tiff format

Hi,

This is in Maya2011 SP1, VRay for maya 1.5SP1 Nightly Build 14259, Windows 7 64 bit.

We use this kind of command line, to be sure the tiff format is used :
render -r vray -of tiff …

Problem : only the color is written, no mask at all (not just black, the mask channel does not even exist in the written tiff file).
I also tried “-of tif” instead of “-of tiff”, and also I set “tif” inside the Render Settings, always the same problem.
(it works all right for sgi or tga)

How do you activate the mask for tiff format ?

Hi,

you are correct, V-Ray currently doesn’t support writing out the alpha channel in TIFF files. We’ve added this issue to the bug tracker and it will be fixed soon.
