No more displacement - what's wrong?

V-Ray V-Ray for Maya Issues

Hi,
I was today experiencing, that my displacement doesn’t work.
I created also a fresh simple test scene with a checker and tried any possible settings (also with vrayDisplacement node),
but it doesn’t work at all. It only makes a smooth outline when I render as a Subdivision Surface.

I also reinstalled the current VrayNext in Maya2018.5

Attached test scene and screenshots (the checkerboard just shows where the displacement map should be)

I could fix it meanwhile… can’t say exactly how, exchanged preferences etc.
