No shadows when light has raytraced shadows

Humans don´t cast any shadows when I enable “Cast raytraced shadows” on my sunlight.
Using Anima 6.1 and Unreal 5.6.

Please help, thank you!

Hi, I only realized it after posting in my original thread. Some characters are casting shadows and some are not. This has to be Anima asset issue.

Best thing is to write a request on support to get some attention.

Hi Martin,

As Jozef himself mentioned in the thread link he provided, this is something we have been able to replicate on our testing environment too. There clearly are issues with the 4D models related to Ray Casting related features in UE. It seems the render modules are not able to interact properly with the geometry from the 4D actors on some features related to Ray Casting (like shadow casting, path tracing or reflections).

The Anima developer team has been already reported on this.

Hi, I’ve just installed the new Anima 6.2 update, but it looks like the shadow casting issue still isn’t fixed. This is really frustrating, as it makes the Anima Drop feature practically unusable. Is there any workaround to handle this problem?

As mentioned in the other closely related thread, I confirm this fix could not be included in v6.2.0, but the Anima Dev team is already working on it.

Unfortunately we are dealing with the same issue on UE 5.6 and Anima 6.3, a fix has been promised since 6.1 with no updates yet.

Hello @yazan_abureyal

Please note a fix for this issue was introduced on the Anima update 6.3.0 released in December 2025. If you are now experiencing a similar issue now, perhaps it is caused by a different root cause.

When we test this feature locally using Anima 6.3.0 in UE 5.6.1 it is working as expected in all types of models, including 4D models (the 2 on the right side of this scene):

If you are using an older project, maybe the plugin was not properly updated here. Could you please try to start a new UE project, import some 4D models and try it again there?

Hello albert_alomar, thanks a lot for the update, after reading your comment I tested in a new project and issue did not seem fixed, so I resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling Anima and related plugins, did another test and it works flawlessly in new projects!
Unfortunately, older projects seem to still have the problem with no way of fixing (tried disabling and re-enabling the UE plugin)

Hello @yazan_abureyal

Thanks for your confirmation that you could make it work on new projects.

Unfortunately, older projects seem to still have the problem with no way of fixing (tried disabling and re-enabling the UE plugin)

That is the expected behavior because the setup of the actor assets is done in the import process. Therefore, updating the plugin or reactivating it will not have any effect on the projects where the Anima content was imported using an older version of the plugin.

That said, re-importing the Anima project into the older UE project level using the latest Anima version and choosing to replace existing assets in the import dialog should also fix the issue there.
