Hello all,
I’m new to the forum and working with V-Ray, working with the latest versions of Sketchup and V-Ray. V-Ray is very very good on screen, but I just can not get the picture of what I see on the monitor as a rendered V-ray image with sky, just like or similar; just frustrating.
Have reviewed all sorts of forums, tutorials, and tried many settings in V-Ray, spending in the rendered V-Ray test files are just crap. What is seen on the monitor with the sky and in total, is sufficient for our purposes, but unfortunately I do not get from V-Ray. (It should still be possible to offer the program so that what is rendered in Sketchup on the monitor to see synonymous in the file again, who then wants more, then yes can do.)
In the attachment Screeshots from the monitor and from the rendered V-Ray file. Maybe it’s just a switch? We would really like to continue working with this program, but unfortunately that is not the only thing we have to work with. Thanks for answers.
PS
Is there anyone who can tell us about TeamViewer?
Another way to save a .png with the background is to edit the .vropt file. First, save the render settings, then open them in Notepad++ and edit the ‘img_noAlpha’ parameter to ’ 1 '. Save the .vropt file with Notepad++ and load it back in V-Ray’s Asset Editor. This way, the final render output of the RGB channel will not have an alpha channel and saving it in .png will store the background as well.
Please note that this has been improved in the upcoming release of V-Ray 3.6 for SketchUp with the introduction of a few options addressing the alpha.
Hello,
have updated to 3.6. Have a picture as background in the V-Ray frame buffer deposited, then rendered, as jpg, tiff, also I have rewritten the vropt file, the background is just not visible? Why is that?
This is a known limitation. We hope to fix it and further imrpove its functionality in a future update. Right now the VFB background is for display purposes only (a bit frustrating, I know). You can either use an image-editing software of your choice to add background in postproduction, or set your scene’s Environment texture placement to “Screen” mode (it will stretch the image file to match the render output aspect ratio).
HI,
Unfortunately, the update does not work with the trees of Laubwerk; these have no more color, look powdered. Question: can you install the V-ray version before (before 3.6) the update over it, so that the trees are displayed correctly again?

When you introduce a Laubwerk plant into your project, it adds a number of materials the moment you hit the V-Ray Render button (or alternatively when you click “Import Materials” from the Laubwerk Plant Attributes window).
One of those materials is a Multimaterial labeled as the plane name + the characters “_mtl” (e.g. plant name Acer Campeste, the MtlMulti is Аcer_campeste_mtl). Simply select all instances of the plant in the viewport and apply that material to the selection.
This should resolve your issue for now.
Hi Peter,
thanks, that helps first, hope the Laubwerk update comes soon.
Another topic: sometimes the rendering does not start again; the following message appears: Could not obtain a license (-96): The ChaosGroup License Server could not be reached.
Then Sketchup must be stopped and restarted to a new session.
An idea? Is this possibly related to online registration (dongle better?)? An idea?
Kind regards
Al
This error usually indicates that you are connected to the Online License Server (OLS) but there are no available licenses.
To see which computers are using your licenses at the current moment, simply open the License Server V-Ray for SketchUp page http://localhost:30304/#/bundle/vray30sketchup (or through SketchUp itself: Extensions > V-Ray > Help > License > License Server).
Once there, click on the “Engaged” number indicator to reveal the additional info.
Hello, Peter,
Thank you for your answer, but I don’t care much about the License Server page or do I know if everything is okay? It seems like everything’s okay, doesn’t it? Attached a picture.
Nevertheless, there is always this problem.
Kind regards Al
Everything appears to be in order in the screenshot you shared. I assume the IP of the machine engaging the licenses is your own (click the numbers under “Engaged” to display more info). To rule out whether your problem might be due to loss of connection to the License Server, please borrow your licenses for offline use and let me know whether the problem still occurs.
