We have had various random crashes lately where Enscape support suggested there are some issues with recent nvidia drivers - specifically 566.36/572.16/572.42. There has also been a bunch of chatter on the consumer side about driver problems ever since the 50xx series was released. I have a feeling these issues are not unrelated.
576.02 is out as of today, supposed to address many issues on the consumer side. Can Enscape confirm if you have tested and offer guidance if 576.02 would be preferred over 572.60 or 572.83?
I am always leery of new X.xx releases, which turned out to be a good hunch with 572.16, which may have been rushed to coincide with the 50xx release. We only use Studio/Production versions, but it seems in this case even that “seal of approval” was not a reliable indicator of stability.
Hello @rifkin , our support is informed by our rendering team regarding the stable drivers for each vendor after we have tested each driver thoroughly through our CI.
Testing of new drivers can take some time though and we might not respond very fast to each new driver release to ensure if they are stable or not. The newest 572.83 driver contains a looot of bugfixes so this is a good sign that it can provide a more stable experience than the in-between drivers from 566.36. It has not been tested internally yet.
If you have time to experiment, we would love to know how the update went.
Edit because I didn’t answer what you have in bold: with our latest data, 566.14 seems to be the most stable. 572.83 could be a replacement but not validated yet.
