NVidia AI upscale not working for interactive rendered viewport

Hi,

the NVidia AI upscale is a nice feature to get speed for previews, thank you for adding it. Could be great if it could be used for the interactive rendered viewport too. At the moment the half scale rendering is shown.

Thank you for your report @Micha , I have added a comment regarding your findings about Denoiser to the internal issue number VRW-3987 concerning V-Ray Interactive Viewport rendering.

Please note that the issue is reproducible with other Denoiser types as well (V-Ray and Intel Open Image).
You can try to change Update Effects to Rapid, and see if it improves the behavior (still it will not fully solve the issue).

I did some more tests and found that the half resolution is shown if no denoising process has kicked in. Here two examples - first ‘denoising at the end’ and during the IR is running changed to ‘rapid’. So, the output scale depends on the denoising. I’m not sure anymore it’s a bug or a side effect only.

But I found an other interesting effect, more like a bug.

* start an new empty Rhino scene
* draw a box
* start an IR at the viewport → perfect
* stop viewport rendering and start an IR at the frame buffer → looks perfect, small output size is right used
* stop rendering and start an IR viewport rendering → wrong output size is used. Rendering at output size and not at viewport size

Thank you @Micha for sharing your additional test, all of the mentioned above is part of the issue I posted earlier and will be addressed by our developers.
