Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX

So, does anyone have one yet?

Only really heard about these cards today so I went ahead and bought one

Seems in reviews it will be around 2.5x faster than my current 7800GTX, and this is a single card, not SLI, or a 2 in one like the 7950GX2. PLUS its Directx10 compatible.

I will try to run some viewport benchmarks before I swap it over to see how much faster it is in the 3dsmax viewport.

Rub it in… :stuck_out_tongue:

All right sir.

nyah nyah nyah :stuck_out_tongue:

also don’t forget to get nothing less than 1000 Watt PSU!!! Sorry I will pass. Maybe I will get next one when they will think about power consuption.

Well i got a 680W at the moment. Which happily runs 9HDDs, as well as the rest of my comp.. so it could be hit and miss.. but what the hey

aside from being red envious of the bleeding ozzie here, i’d say a 1k W psu isn’t needed, unless there’s a battery of disks drawing from it too. The card’s been built fairly redundantly, from what i read…
We’ll know soon if DaForce’s PSU will be able to handle it…
I can see the nutter playing BF on 12 monitors or something…

Lele

sheesh come on… thats Mr Nutter please.

And its not a battery of disks.. its a … ok well yes your right

DaForce, can you please tel me how long is this card? It’s EVGA?

yeah DaForce, some viewportbenchies would be great, maybe SPECapc for 3ds max https://www.spec.org/products/
Thanks in advance and have fun

DaForce, can you please tel me how long is this card? It’s EVGA?

it should be 22,22cm, so thats bit more than average

Yeah thats what i was planning on using plus just going by max9’s FPS counter and the “feel” using it.

I sure will enjoy it
Well assuming A. it fits and B. i can power it… lol

Sweet!! Just had a look at the stats, Nvidia recommend a 450W PSU so you should be fine (900 for SLI).
Just about ready for Crysis then 8)

28cm arf!!! my mistake I saw the GTS which is ~8" then I’ll miss this one, I’m so happy with my passive Northbridgecoolingtower

Well assuming A. it fits and B. i can power it… lol

I’ll keep my fingers crossed

eeek… my current card is 20.5cm long.. this sucker is just shy of 8cm longer :expressionless:

I dont think it will fit in my current case… crap… and my case is hardly small.

will measure up now.

For those who are jsut beginning to follow this, there is a slightly smaller version coming out later this month called the GTS.

These cards are the first DX10 cards to hit the market. They even offer up a water-cooled version of the GTX.

And a peltier cooled version too. Kind of over the top if you ask me.. seems this card runns cooler than my current card.

Seems the card wont fit as such.. it will fit but will have to move one of my HDD caddys around so that it will fit.. and move my burner to the bottom near where the video card is as its shorter than the HDD"s

*sigh* nothing is ever easy.

All we need now is Vista and some directX10 games  and should blaze through Oblivion.

Might finally be able to play oblivion now at a decent res without it reverting to a slow slideshow of images

28 cm long! it’s like my forearm

10.5" - bigger than my foot and occupies to pci-e slots…

Great. My ATI 1950 XTX is rubbish already.

Hooray!
