NVIDIA Quadro M2200M?

Hi

Iv’e been asked if our new employee can use a laptop computer, we already have, for enscape / revit.

It’s a model is a

Lenovo ThinkPad P51 - 15.6" - Core i7 7820HQ - 8 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD

the graphic card is a

NVIDIA Quadro M2200M

I don’t know these quadro cards, so i can’t answer the question my self.

Does anyone know if this laptop usable?

Jorgensen

@Jorgensen_dk the graphics card is supported and suitable of running Enscape.

But not fluently/smooth.

=>It should give some visual feedback in walkmode in Draft/Medium Quality or in exported renderings.

I’d recommend a mobile GTX1070/80.

thanks @Jonathan_Knoefel

Jorgensen

Does anyone know a laptop with a 1080 ti gfx that does not look like like an alien spaceship, and that fits with a docking station?

To achieve flexibility I might need to change from a stationary to a laptop ?

Thanks

Jorgensen

@Jorgensen_dk I’m not aware of any GTX 1080Ti Laptop on the market, only GTX 1080 non Ti.

If you can wait for a couple of weeks you should check the new mobile workstations with Geforce RTX chipsets.

Hi @Jonathan_Knoefel Do you think this laptop model, Dell XPS15 with 32GB RAM, Intel® Core™ i7-8750H and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti would be able to work fine in Revit and Enscape?

If not, what would be your laptop recommendation? Max 3000€. This choice is driving me crazy and I do not want a 5kg laptop neither!!jaja

Many thanks,

Hey @JAJU , that laptop is a decent choice for Revit and Enscape. You may also want to have a look at their gaming lineup, like the Dell G7 15 which has a GTX 1060, but then again, the laptop will be heavier and not as slim. It’s up to you if the extra GPU power is required, if you’re working with rather large projects for example.

Going up even further into laptops with a GTX 1070, GTX 1070 Ti or GTX 1080, they are usually rather heavy and definitely not slim. So, if you don’t plan to use Enscape VR anytime soon, I’d say you can safely go for the proposed Dell XPS15, or maybe the Dell G7 15.

Thank you very much Demian.

I suppose you would like more this option MSI GS65 (i7-8750H,32gb ram, nvidia GTX 1070 8GB?

I have some concerns about MSI. What do you think? Is it definitely a better option than Dell XPS15 or Dell G7 15?

Many thanks again!

@JAJU , that laptop is actually rather thin and non-bulky looking considering that it includes a GTX 1070! And definitely a good choice for Enscape performance wise.

I suppose Dell is generally known for their (better) quality control, but if you manage to get the MSI GS65 with some warranty, or even extended warranty, I don’t think that there’ll be any problems.

I just got an Alienware 17R5 I9 with 1080 and 32GB ram

go to Dell Outlet.

I bought the exact same laptop for using enscape with a mobile HTC Vive pro rig.
It works very well, and I can reccomend this laptop.
Only issue I’ve encountered is that there is some kind of bug that caused enscape not to load when I had an external monitor connected.
I havent really tested if the issue was with that specific monitor or with any monitor..

I also got the alienware amplifier in case I need more GPU power
