Object edges when Compositing

Hello all,

I’m experimenting with compositing workflows and I’ve come across an issue that I can’t quite figure out.

When I render out to Raw Lighting and Raw GI, create my lighting passes by multiplying the Diffuse Filter by the GI and Lighting and add the layers together, i get an edge around my objects that isnt’ there when I do a straight ‘beauty pass’ render or use the pre-multiplied GI and Lighting elements, this doesn’t happen:

Check that out. Its worth several times its weight in gold.

you have a double alpha issue
you are better off to divide the diffuse out of the regular gi and lighting passes than using the raws

this is a free tutorial
VfxVault.com is for sale | HugeDomains that explains what I mean but percydaman is right the multipass link he gave is fantastic

Brilliant! Thanks for the help and the links. Both are awesome resources!

Hello guys…

I’ve got some dummies question :

I’m using Reinhard dark multi : 1 and bright multi : 0.4

1) If I use color mapping other than linear, can I get same render as beauty in nuke with elements ?

2) do I need to render in linear then apply a color correction to get Reinhard ?

3) How to apply a Reinhard gamma correction to final render in nuke ?

Best regards…
