I have an image that has tree foliage that should cast blotchy shadows over a house (this is intended and exactly how I want it to look). I rendered this yesterday and it’s all OK. The client wanted some changes and I re-render it… the foliage mask is now solid and I don’t get the same blotches. (This is the same model with saved scenes.)
Any clues what I can do to get the mask back?
(I tried going back a version, but the tree shadows are too crisp…)
I loaded a different tree asset and made it look roughly the same.
Hey @Gadget_1 , thanks a lot for your submission.
Just to make sure I’m getting everything correctly:
B image = How it should look like?
C image = How it looks like now?
Is there not anything you’ve adjusted or changed what so ever (settings, asset, project itself, updated graphics card drivers)? Are you currently running our latest preview or release (you can gladly let me know which version exactly), and is there any chance you could briefly send me that project +current settings file over so I can have a look at it myself?
Thank you in advance.
I would have, but I have over-written that version with one where I replaced the tree asset (no time to spend working it out as this image was going to the client today).
If it happens again I will create a snapshot model.
(I had installed one version back (1180) and re-installed the current version (1372) between B and C images being generated - this might have something to do with it?)
@Gadget_1 , that may very well explain it since you can now freely adjust the Shadow sharpness in the latest preview via the Atmosphere tab. Next time you run into shadows which are too sharp, just decrease them via this corresponding slider until you’re satisfied.
Hope that helps!
