The option at the global level is nice, but a per object or material would give more control.
BUMP*
I posted this question in the problems forum and it was suggested by a couple users that I see if it was wished for.
There are actually 5 or so threads in the wishlist section already reguarding this issue.
A control per object or material (or both would be preferred) for the GI saturation seperate of GI multiplier. GI multiplier is fantastic, but the saturation cannot be controlled other than in the global settings.
This control could even have a further control. Mental Ray has this control called irradiance color. The option is not for Max, unfortunately, but in Maya it’s there. You can actually pick the value and hue change that is incurred when GI bounces from the object.
That way you can desaturate, oversaturate, or change the reflected color completely for a nonphotoreal look.
That’s the way I would impliment it. It works great. So let’s not just have a value if we can help it. Let’s get a color control.
I’d go even further… different material for gi ![]()
