Objects won't smooth in Enscape

Is this normal or my settings have problem ?

I use Sketchup 2017 & Enscape 2.4

GTX 750 TI / driver ver 416

Hi @lima_2

thanks for your report and welcome to our forums! This unfortunately a known visual artifact which sometimes appears on rounded geometry in direct sun-light. It depends on the scale of your objects and the angle of the sun. Luckily most of the time this won’t be as visible as in your screenshot due to textures and other material effects beeing applied.

Hope that helped!

… this effect unfortunately also occurs with subdivided geometry - for example done with SubD or Artisan

The smoothing does work, but the it’s not perfect and it’s much more visible with shiny materials (… and most bathroom furniture has smooth, rounded, ceramic surfaces)

Left = smooth/softened lines :|: Right = ‘normal’ lines

Thanks for the information

yes, and it is like Clemens Musterle wrote above - depending on how you turn or set up the lighting, this negative effect becomes clearer or less clear, it always remains visible however…

Maybe it’s the same like the errors that can be seen at glass:

Maybe the smoothing by welding is not used for reflection/refraction.
