Hi , I have a dumb question , i dont realy know about OCing. I would like to OC a q6600 to 3 ghz, but my question is if a need to have special Ram like hyper X of kingston or I could OC my pc with just the value ram from that brand? (DDR2,667, 2 modules X 2) I have an asus mobo Asus p5n-e sli.

Your ram clock speed is different from your CPU clock speed, on newer motherboards like yours, can you clock them independently with a ratio switch.
The basic idea is you increase your FSB (front side bus) or your cpu multiplier, both effectively overclocking your computer.
To answer your question directly, you don’t need to have special ram, but you’ll get more room for error and more headroom on your overclock if you have better ram.

dangit, had a great answer, then accidently hit ctrl-r whilst trying to hit ctrl-t. I have a similar setup with a asus p5w dh deluxe mobo and an intel core 2 duo e6600 (stock 2.4ghz).
I was able to achieve a stable 3.0ghz overclock by simply upping my fsb 33mhz from 300 to 333 and changing my cpu multiplier. so my stock was
300mhz fsb x 8cpu multiplier = 2.4ghz
so changing my cpu multiplier to 9 and upping my fsb to 333 mhz I got my 3.0ghz, all without overclocking my ram or changing the ratio from 1:1.
Note: I did not change the CPU Voltage to achieve the above, but I did change the RAM voltage to the recommended as stated by kingston’s website. (2.1v was what mine asked for, even though my bios thinks it’s high)
Once you get your overclock be sure to download these programs to test the stability of your computer to make sure everything is fine, because it may look ok, but under full load probably isn’t. Safest bet is to run prime95 all night under nightmare torture mode

Ene now that you say that, I am a little bit worried, Its too risky to try to reach 3ghz with that config? maybe lower values are more reasonable? i just want to get more for my money but in a moderated way. I need to have a stable pc and without been worry about it. That is for a work station but i dont know if OC goes well for render farm nodes (same spec) besause of their non stop rendering work?
3.0 is pretty easy to hit, I’ve seen plenty pushed to 3.4-3.6, should be fine. at 3.0, I would recommend getting a good cooler. Then just watch the temps if everything is running at 40c or so you will be fine.

Different motherboards have different setups of course.
I got Asus P5W64 Pro, that one actually has overclocking profiles, basically you pick % of overclock and it auto configures everything. Or you can do it manually.
What I did to OC my q6600 basically selected jump free configuration, chose manual, and set the cpu frequency from default (266) to 333. Default cpu multiplier is 9, so 9 * 333 = 2.997 ghz
Worked well for me, then I raised it to 3.4 ghz, but machine rebooted on render. So I lowered it to 3.16 and seems to be stable.
And damnit those q6600 run so cool, with 3.16 ghz its got 52 deg celcius while full load
Stock cooler would _probably_ be fine for it, I don’t mean to alarm you, but if something went wrong I wouldn’t feel right saying it’s fine, if it were me, I’d spend the $40+ to get yourself a nice fan solution to keep your case cool and in the end you’ll get a better cpu/drive/card/memory life with a cooler solution, that is if you don’t upgrade again by then which I usually do :).
