Odd Flat Lighting with a Green Hue When Rendering Night Time Scenes with Artificial Lighting

Hi Enscape Team,

I’m using the most recent version of Enscape at the time of this message and when I render night time scenes with artificial lighting in one of my Revit models, the light appears flat and with a green hue when I set the quality settings to “Ultra”. However, when I change the settings down to “High” the image renders correctly, or more true to the intent as inputted in the Revit model. See the attached images. Has the Enscape Team encountered this before, any possible solutions. Also, I noticed that the file size of the image rendered with the “High Quality” settings was also a larger file size than the image rendered with the “Ultra” setting – there also didn’t seem to be much of a difference in pixel quality.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your help,

Mark

I noticed a stronger green/yellow tint to some artificial lights in the latest preview, but I had lots of grass outside, big windows and was using the “forest” horizon; have you any of these things in your model?

We’ve in fact made some modifications to exposure and tonemapping behavior during nighttime in the Preview version. But it definitely shouldn’t look like in your screenshot. Thanks for your report we’ll have a look at it!

Gadget: There are very limited amounts of grass outside the home and some planting but with no horizon image selected, so just the sky horizon as the background. I thought this might be what was causing it because I ran into this with another model that was in the middle of a grass field; however, in this instance I don’t think that is the cause.

What’s peculiar is as stated above, changing the quality setting down to “High” from “Ultra” solves the lighting and green hue problem and with no real loss in pixel quality and the file size is about the same. I just figured that images rendered out with the “Ultra” setting selected would be a larger file size and be of a better pixel quality. Since, I’m using a Preview version, I imagine the behavior is related to this, just thought I would send this out there to get it on the Enscape team’s radar.

Thanks for the reply, Clemens – I have no doubt the Enscape Dream Team will solve it.

Also, Enscape Team, I’m happy to share the Revit model I used to create the above renderings if it helps with the diagnostic process.
