Odd Revit Crashes

Hey there,

I have been experiencing Revit crashes caused by nudging elements. The issue is sporadic and happens with everything; ie. model elements, annotation objects, schedules, & legends. On one occasion I even had a crash when I was adjusting a detail component in the family editor. I have updated all of my software, OS, and drivers but I still crash. A week ago I started the process of add-in elimination and found that with disabling Enscape, and only Enscape, I no longer crashed Revit when nudging. After a few days of being crash-free, I then re-enabled Enscape to experience a nudge crash maybe 30 minutes later while adjusting a legend on a sheet.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

The odd thing with this is that I only had Enscape enabled, not running. I did not run Enscape or the Assent Library prior to the crash either. The journal files from the crash just end, with no indication of a reason. The crash is a “fatal” crash but does not immediately close Revit, instead, the drawing area goes blank and requires me to restart before I can continue working. After crashing, Revit remains functional and I am able to sync and save before restarting.

Any thoughts?

Hi @DYoung_1

Welcome to our forum.

In case you haven’t done so already, please send in a feedback report via the Enscape Feedback Button as well so we can further investigate this an collect more information.

Please also add a link to this thread in the description.

Hi @DYoung_1

Thank for sending in the log files, I will look into this further and will update any relevant information here afterwards as well.

Hi, I am experiencing the same issue since updating Revit and Enscape. I am currently testing with Enscape disabled in my work system. Will send a feedback once I confirm that enabling Enscape causes this issue.

In my case the crash and the symptoms are the same as you described. Nudging - UI freezes and then Revit crashes. No recovery no messages to indicate what happened. I have unfortunately lost work progress because of not saving before crash occurred. It should be looked at urgently as the crash does not allow Revit to save a recovery file.

@DYoung_1 good job narrowing it down. As I never would have guessed that it is an issue with Enscape.

I will post the feedback with a link to this thread when I enable Enscape again and Revit crashes the next time.

Hi @nug8

Welcome to our forum and thank you for adding to this.

The more info we get the better we can narrow this down and hopefully resolve this as soon as possible indeed.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Hi @Rick_Marx

Just installed Enscape today to try and replicate the crash. It happened soon after, and I have sent out a feedback with the logs including a link to this forum post.

Thanks, hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Hey @nug8

I have received the log files, thanks for sending them in.

If there is any update I will update you both on the case and in here for any other users that might experience this.

Quick update - Rick and the team had me install and test the 3.1.0 Preview 6 and over the last week I have not experienced any nudge crashing. Finger crossed but I believe a fix might be on the way.

Thanks everyone!

Is the 3.1.0 preview 6 not available for download yet? We are experiencing a similar issue. So far the users that have reported this issue are all on 3.0.0.39546.

Hi @agiron_1

Welcome to our forum.

It is, we just released preview 7 even.

To get the preview, please refer to our thread here.

Was experiencing frequent nudging crashes - especially when in drafting views. Installed the pre-release version and haven’t had a crash yet. Fingers crossed!
