Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

Hi,

Just was wondering if there were options to optimize rendering speeds right off the bat…

These are my comp specs:
D900C Phantom Intel Quad CPU
Q6600 @ 2,4 GHz
3.00 GB of ram
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M

How can you Maximise the number of threads to take advantage of the quad cpu and also the Priority V-Ray rendering has on the computer?

thanks

Re: Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

Only thing I dare to suggest is setting the Light Cache passes to match the number of CPU cores.

Re: Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

There really isn’t a need to change the thread priority of a Rendering to make it higher. That could potentially lock up your computer until the whole rendering is done, which doesn’t sound to good to me. Lower is okay, but higher isn’t very necessary

Re: Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

an a dore 2 duo? how can it be optimized? for fast renders, im using the vray express studio quality toolbar…

Re: Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

You can optimize settings, but in terms of additional threads, V-Ray will always use as much as it has available to it. If you’re just using the V-Ray express quality toolbars you’ll have to start getting into the settings themselves in order to speed up your renders.

Re: Optimizing Rendering Speeds with Quad Core

I use a quad core 64bit machine and I always use Lower thread priority. Having it on Lower allows you to multitask and in my view it doesn’t really speed up the process if you have it higher.
