orthographics not working right

It seems that when I try to render an image in the orthographic view it still renders it in perspective. Ive only noticed this since upgrading to the latest service release so I’m not sure if they are connected or not. Here is in an image showing what I mean.

I had another issue working in another file where the ortho view would render the object far far away. I noticed if I turned off the layer that the light was on then it would fix the problem and render normal. Lights on = far far away. Lights off = normal. Here is another screen capture showing what I mean.

A workaround I found was just to change the lens size to offset the problem. I had to change it to around 250mm to get it close.

Thanks in advance for any insight into this issue.

Re: orthographics not working right

I’ve noticed the same problem. Too bad since I use quite a lot of orthographic rendering.
At first, I thought that somehow the scene objects had become “invisible” to the orthographic view because I just got an all white rendering. And I suspected a kind of “clipping range” problem.

Re: orthographics not working right

This should be a physical camera limitation only and the “default” camera should support a perfect orthographic view. OK, a background env image will distorted allways, this is mathematical correct.

Re: orthographics not working right

No I haven’t yet tried the physical camera. I would have attached a screendump of a little scene and the VFB showing the result of rendering the “front” view. It turns out a frontal perpective. But the site is telling me that the upload folder is full.

I have, though, been able to make orthographic renderings before upgrading to the latest service release.

Re: orthographics not working right

Tested again, and not only a little cube - I can confirm the bug. I wrote a bug report. Thanks.

Re: orthographics not working right

and sometimes the lenses is the issue it zooms in too close render
I change to the parallel projection for at least rendering something

Re: orthographics not working right

This should be fixed in the Service Release (which is now available for download)
