I created a panoramic image (quicktime movie file). The company it is for says they don’t allow the use of quicktime and therefore need the file transferred to java/windows media format. Can this be done? How so?

You could do a scanline render if you don’t need it in real-time.
1. Create a sphere, invert the normals
2. Standard Material, 100 Self-illuminated, with the panorama mapped spherically, applied to the sphere
3. put a free camera inside the sphere
4. animate the camera
5. Render out scanline the animated camera.
6. Profit

Look into a program called PTviewer.
Its a java app that can take 360deg panos and display them in html very similar to like how quicktime does its qtvr’s
Thanks for the help. I know nothing about java and am clueless on how I would even get this to work. I found the viewer that was mentioned and emailed that and my image to their web guy to see if he can do anyhting with it. (or if he’s willing to do anyhting with it)
it is possible with flash too, for example the new google-maps streetview panos are done with flash.
if you google for “flash panorama viewer”, there will be some solutions and products.

it can display quicktime panoramas directly. so you don’t have to convert anything

the problem with java is that the virtual machine plugin isn’t very popular anymore. flash offers best compatibility, about everybody has it installed, quicktime isn’t that bad either, because of the widespread ipod/itunes. but java often doesn’t come by default anymore, many people will see a grey block, instead of the pano applet, especially home computers.
