Anybody have any tips or tricks on how to make a paper material?
I’m trying to get a simple paper texture, similar to notebook paper, or really printer/copier paper is closer to what I mean, not glossy paper anyway.
I’ve been trying a white material with some transparency and a cellular 2d map to simulate the irregularities of the paper composition, but it still doesn’t seem quite right.
I would stick a piece of paper in my scanner and use the image as a base
For what purposes is the paper? Will it be backlit (do you need the translucency effect)?
I’m trying to do a scene with a flock of paper birds flying around, so a shot with them backlit by the sun would be fantastic now that you mention it.
I’m looking for more of a regular paper rather than a really thin transparent rice paper lamp shade look though.
I’m thinking this will be a good project to force myself to learn Particle Flow to do the flock motions. If I could use Vray for some nice material/lighting effects that would be even better.
I got the idea from the Miyazaki movie Spirted Away or Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi
