What makes the 3DS MAX screen freeze. My ram and CPU is good. I click right along and BAM, freeze! I think if I wait 10 minutes it’s come back alive, but I don’t have time for that!
Which 3ds Max version? Which viewport driver?

Its “F” ing windows. It has been that way since Windows Vista. The way windows now interacts with graphics cards, it locks up your whole screen while it waits to regenerate. It does that with all applications, Autocad, Photoshop, you name it. Its always unpleasant. It boils down to getting the cards drivers to somehow work with your application.

I have mine working, for the most part, except for the occasional freeze. I dare not touch anything, because out-of-the-box, it is mad.
Set up windows power menagment to maximum output. And disable HDD sleep mode, see if that helps. At the end try running max in administrator mode.

custom, and there should be settings under one of options. See if u can find it if no ill send u screnshoot
to the right of “High Performance”, click on “Change plan settings”
then at the bottom click on “Change advanced power settings”
in the window that pops up, in the list find “Hard Disk”

Turn off hard disk after
expand >
Setting (Minutes) - my default is 20. Change yours to maybe 40 or 50
Also in this list you can fiddle with the other and tweak it to your liking.
If all else fails then on keyboard press and hold the windows “flag” or logo button while at the same time pressing ‘R’. Then type cmd and press enter
Then type format c: and wipe the drive and get a new pc running linux and switch to Blender

is your search indexer on or off?
have similar issue with search…
I thought search indexing was off, but it still shows in task manager.
And if i want to try to search for a file on my drive(s) I forget about it. It takes forever, and never finds anything.
Honestly, I never really got used to the search feature after going to Vista ultimate. My other pc runs xp pro and never
even had to worry about this…
So, is it advisable to keep search indexing active?
