perforated metal

I need to create a perforated metal panel, (metal panel with holes) I followed the directions at

but couldn’t get it to work. I used the Matte/Shadow as the Vraymatwrapper as it’s base material, but the holes would draw in the color of the environment. I need to be able to see through the mtl, into the scene. . .help.

make sure and set the ior to 1.0

those directions are redundant now. In the latest versions you only have to check the affect alpha option in a regular VRay material.

why not use Vraydisplacement to do that.
