Philip Johnson's Glass House WIP

Hi All, and welcome to my largest personal project yet

I’ve spend the last couple of weeks sparetime recreating one of my favorite houses… Philip Johnson’s Glass House in Connecticut, USA. I’ve visitet the place once, and since i’m probably not coming back soon, why not have a virtual version of this great piece of architecture

I’ve wanted to recreate the place rather accurately, and that has meant that i’ve created 95% percent of the models myself… the building and all the furniture are all created from drawings and reference photos, and the vegetation is made by myself in SpeedTree and then exportet to sketchup

The project IS NOT done yet.. i still need to finish some details and furniture, but when the whole model is ready, my plan is to make a high quality video of the place

The images here are just to show the current stage of the model, and are straigt from Enscape. Everything is 3D, including the whole background… alot might change before it’s done  hope You enjoy!

Very beautiful! Well arranged mood!

Thank you very much

The level of detail is incredible! The details like the green glass tint for the table really matter a lot to the overall realism

Best I’ve seen yet!

Very cool… Just makes me want to see the improvements to Enscape grass quicker

Doesn’t seem as if you get too much privacy in there, huh?

Just kidding, awesome detail, indeed. Love the leather-, floor- and wood textures. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves!

Great Job!

Great stuff as always Herbo!

Gorgeous!

Marvellous pictures, excellent work!

Thank you very much! I’m trying to stay true to as many details as possible  I think you are completely right, details is one of the key elements of realism. if just one thing looks off, it will pull the whole picture down

Thanks!! I hope the finished project will be even better

haha, yea, it would be lovely to do this detailed kind of grass right out of the box.. allthough it is quite heavy

nope, tho house itself does not give much privacy  it probably helped alot that Philip Johnson ended up buying all the surrounding land as well, and sprinkled it all with private art galleries and big landscaping projects  And thanks! i’m looking forward to sharing the future development with You

Thank you!

Thank you very much!

I’m glad you liked it

Thanks  i hope to improve them further still

This is insanely beautiful and lovely. Hats off to your work, simply stunning!!! Great work @Herbo !!!

This is amazing! - great work @Herbo

Wow amazing !!! where do you find your trees? I was used to use laubwerk but it doesnt work in enscape :frowning:

Thank you  I get my trees from various sources… in this case I made them from the ground up with speedtree, in order to get the excact look of the real ones:-)
they were then importet to skecthup using simlaps composer software

For more casual trees, this link is a great place to start:

Simply amazing! Where did you get that grass? @Herbo

The grass is made up of 6 different models, all scattered around using “skatter” for sketchup. most of the basemodels were found in the “tree link” above, but they are quite modified in order to keep performance ok

so you didn’t touch that with any sort of post pro. at this point looks like a marvel of real time imagery tbh. having in mind it has almost everything modeled it could be easily used for some video shots too.

congrats!

Thank you  only a tiny amount of color grading was done in post, so they are pretty raw  And you are right, it is definitely the plan to make an animation of the whole project when it is done
