I have to create a massive dust cloud “the size of a small planet”, I was wanting to know if there was a way of using phoenix simulations as a particles so to fake more detail. If not I was thinking of going the “AfterBurn or Pyrocluster” rout. Opinions please. 🙂

i’m not sure what you mean with “as particles”, perhaps you can do it with phoenix. int [this video](https://vimeo.com/69599092) 50M particles are used to represent the smoke. as i understand you need static smoke, not moving. in this case you can try to use displacement of low res smoke ball with cellular or noise texture.

I didn’t know you could displace the smoke, I thought this was just for solid surfaces. Thanks, will give it a try!
