Photon Mapping not working...

Hi,

I just installed 1.09.03r in a new copy of Viz 2005. Authorized, etc. Irridance maps work great but I’m having trouble trying out the photon maps, they don’t seem to work at all. If I check both the Global Photon Map radio buttons in the Indirect Illumination box nothing differnet happens when I render. Basically it just acts as if the Indirect Illumination was off. I’ve gone through a couple of quick tutorials which make it seem like I should just click on photon maps and go (improving it later though) but that doesn’t work for me. Any ideas what might be the problem?

Thanks

David

hi
what lights are you using and are you using vray materials?

Standard materials (do I need to use VrayMTL?) and directional light. I checked the light settings and the diffuce box is checked.

Thanks

try using vray materials … and a vray light to start with.

The Vray Materials worked. Thanks. Is this the only way to get photons to work correctly?

yes with vray mats
