My It guy just asked me which one he should get…Having never used Extended…Is there a compelling reason I should?

If those don’t appeal to you, then don’t.

I’ve heard the 3d stuff is a joke.

32 bit hdr support might be a draw.

Don’t upgrade. Stick with CS2 if you’re on 64 bit.

upgrade to extended if you want to work with 32-bit files, inc having layers in 32-bit files.

and I’d say extended as well, the improved 32 bit workflow alone it’s worth it (even though you’re still much better off with AE).

damn, didnt read to bottom of thread and recognised our hero Scott Onstott and then dug up that thread .. only to see Rivoli beat me to it
(that median PS trick could come in very handy)

Well - I didn’t know that it could do that. That’s a very handy script.

However, working with large floating point images can really be a task when not running 64-bit. I hope adobe reconsiders 64-bit in their next release.
