Anima stand alone - I have just 5 4d walking people and when I preview the shot inside of anima, they all slide along the floor so I can’t see how it’s going to look in animation. Is there some type of graphics setting i need to change? thanks

Hello @Robin.Walker
This sliding issue usually happens when the streaming speed of the 4D model data from the location where it has been stored cannot keep up with the realtime playback rate you are using in your scene.
In other words, the speed at which the animation is read from your disk is slower than the playback speed on your viewport. This usually happens when you store the Anima assets in a network drive which might have a slow connection to your computer. If that is the case, and there is no easy way for you to improve that network connection performance, the best alternative solution would be to move the Purchases folder to a local hard drive. The quicker the read speed is, the more 4D models you see animated in realtime (a modern SSD drive will offer the best performance).
At the same time, when the bottleneck is not in the hard drive, it may be in the GPU. Anima can use CUDA to improve playback performance on the 4D models by using the hardware decoding capabilities on modern Nvidia GPUs. As an example, using only a CPU you could play up to 5-7 4D models in realtime without issues. However, using your Nvidia 3090 GPU, you should be able to get ~40 4D models playing in realtime without issues. Therefore, the problem here is likely related to the read speed from the location where the Anima assets are stored.
Ah ok interesting thanks! yea they are on a server with mechanical disks but i do have a 10gb connection, but it’s probably the 3.5 disks right.
It’s a shame it can’t temporarily store the textures or something in the local machine running it (which does have an SSD). I’m Not a computer expert though so I might be talking nonsense here.
Is it not possible to disable textures then inside of anima? Would that help? Or be a good option for future? Or is it not just textures but the data inside the animation itself too.
thanks
