As the title says… requesting this on behalf of my escape key 
+1 for this I got this pain long time ago since I didn’t have an SSD. but event tough with SSD, autosave still able to hurt my IR with a 1GB scene.
btw, I have a script for temporary solution (check attachment), just place it in script>startup. but I recommend to not use it for user who never work without IR because he will never has autobackup.
write this in maxscript listener, to stop it: PreventAutosave.Clear_fn()
if you have stop it, you can re-launch it: PreventAutosave.Launch_fn()
