Hi, is there an easy way to find the IP of an unregistered post on a forum (not this one)… and then find that IP’s location?
The admin may have the IP address for a particular user.
Then you can use the tools at dnsstuff or command line a tracert to the IP address. Tracert isn’t always reliable - especially if the user has their comp set up under a proxy server.
Yeah unless your the owner/mod/admin of the board you wont be able to get that information.
And then assuming its an unregistered post the IP address probably wasnt recorded. Then your chances of finding the IP address and tracing it is basically … none.

The fact is that it is generally accepted that the the IP’s of forum users are privileged information and should not be divulged to a third party without a subpoena. Really just trying to help natty not to do something stupid.
