Problems loading scene to render out of core, using Vray GPU (CUDA)

I have problems loading my scene to render using Vray GPU (CUDA) while using system memory for textures, both Rhino 8 and Vray 7 (update 4) crashes. The scene is in the forest and there is a lot of scattering of vegetation, and some limited displacement. While rendering this with CPU (no problems), it says “memory used: 36 gb” under stats, but task manager show that i have 45 gb shared memory of vram and ram?

The main question is not how to optimize the scene, but if there is something i have misunderstood when it comes to shared memory and out of core rendering? or if there are other ways to load the render? I have the latest reccomended driver and use “disk caching from file”

rtx5080 oc, 9800x3d, 64gb ram

As far as I’m aware, rendering with Vray GPU uses the “Dedicated GPU Memory” instead of the “Shared GPU Memory”. So if you have the 5080 that should be 16GB.

Thank you for your reply! Yes i’m aware, which is why I have enabled “use system memory for textures”, which according to these screenshots should use shared memory. Are there “better” ways to load a vray scene? vray standalone?

Will the amount of memory used be different between CPU and GPU rendering? ex. ooc GPU rendering will use 40gb while CPU uses 30gb? is it possible to use 100% of shared memory or is there set a limit?

Ah I see what you mean. Can’t help you in this case, might have to wait for someone else to chime in on this one. Good luck
