I cant load Assets anymore
Hi @BOTOSAUR , and thanks for the report.
In general, if the Troubleshooting Guide you can access for help (by clicking on the hyperlink in the dialogue) does not assist in resolving this behavior, please kindly also forward this to our official support team, as detailed here, so that we can troubleshoot this further in detail. Thanks once again in advance.
I found a solution that is very inconvenient but works.
I have to manually launch cbservice.exe as an administrator every time I start my PC.
It’s really, really annoying.
And once again, I don’t see the benefits of this new update.
Like every time. New things that NO ONE EVER ASKED FOR.
Hi @BOTOSAUR , can you check if Cosmos is enabled in the Startup Apps in Windows?
You can do that by searching for “Startup Apps” in the Start menu. Then find Chaos Cosmos Browser Service and make sure it is enabled.
This should solve your issue until we find the root cause.
Also, if possible can you please go to Task Manager > Startup apps and tell us what is the Startup impact for Chaos Cosmos Browser Service?
Thank you in advance!
Thanks,
Yes I did it and it works fine.
Great, thanks for confirming!
One of the issues we are facing is that all the assets in Cosmo have been renamed. According to an old file, 49 assets are now missing. I’m not sure who decided to change the names, but it seems like there may be a lack of consideration for Enscape. It was once a great software before the merger with Chaos.
Unfortunately, we still have to pay for our subscription and spend time fixing file paths, rather than focusing on rendering.
APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE for the negative comments ;(
I’m also having the issue of “render data for X assets could not be downloaded” seems to be for items that I’ve already downloaded in the past.
I am also having these issues ever since the Cosmos server was introduced. Particularly on models that I started prior to the introduction of Cosmos, but even on a new model, which I just posted about. I have checked that Enscape is looking in all the right directories, that Cosmos launches on startup, that everything is the latest and up to date (except my project needs to stay in Revit 2024).
I am having to explain to clients that my software doesn’t work properly and I’m sorry that things are not showing up correctly that were last month when we met, which is pretty unacceptable.

Hi Dario,
Thank you for following up.
I wasn’t able to find the files in the link, only an image.
However, we are aware of more issues with the Cosmos browser, and our developers are working on a resolution.
In the meantime, you can revert to Enscape 4.9 to bypass the issue. You can download 4.9 from here after logging in to your Chaos account.
We know this is disruptive and really appreciate your patience while we work toward a permanent fix. Thank you in advance!
Once I have more information, I will update you directly.
Kind regards,
Rick Marx

Hello,
I’m experiencing all these problems as well.
It’s really annoying to have to go through this. And it’s a professional disadvantage for us.
As a reminder, we pay for a product that works. I hope you find a lasting solution quickly. Because Enscape is a good product when it works well!
Sincerely,
Fred
Hello,
Could you please check several things:
-
Whether you’re using the latest official version of Enscape;
-
Verify that you are logged in Cosmos by opening http://localhost:30305/ In the header of the application you have to see your initials instead of Sign In button;
-
If these steps don’t help, could you please provide us a demo scene / project which presents the problem with downloading the assets;

Hello Ivan,
thank you for your feedback
1-yes
2-yes
3 - i can’t upload my test file (skp) it’s too heavy .
Hello again,
Could you please try the following steps when you have some time?
-
Update Enscape to the latest official version.
-
Stop Cosmos using the “Stop Chaos Cosmos Browser” shortcut from the Start Menu.
-
Delete the Cosmos database folder:
C:\Users\<Your_User>\AppData\Local\Chaos\Cosmos\DB -
Delete the Cosmos working directory (this will remove all downloaded Cosmos assets). Default location:
C:\Users\<Your_User>\Documents\Chaos Cosmos -
Start Cosmos again using the “Start Chaos Cosmos Browser” shortcut from the Start Menu.
-
Verify that you are logged in by opening http://localhost:30305/. If you are signed in, you should not see a “Sign In” button — instead, your initials will be displayed in the header.
Hello Ivan,
Nothing change…
I’ll wait for the next update , with cosmos and with all assets.

Hi Dario,
Thank you for following up.
Our developers may have found the root of the issue and are working on a resolution.
However, as this requires overhauling a larger part of the code, it may take a little longer.
I recommend rolling back to our 4.9 version here for the time being, for you to continue working.
Once I have any new information, I will update you directly.
Kind regards,
