Anyone have any experience with this:
it’s great !
You have all your render elements layers directly in one file !
Brilliant plugin, both for ps and ae.
But it is a little slow to open big exr’s.
So this plugin doesn’t actually put the imported layers in the proper order with the right blending mode right…it just brings them all in at once?
That is correct in it doesn’t act the same way psd manager does. Its value is that it lets you use some more of the power of exr’s in after effects since adobe doesn’t seem interested in updating their exr import themselves.
I like the fact that you can store mattes in it from the multimatte render element.

Isn’t AE made by Adobe? I wonder why PS can’t handle them like AE since they are both Adobe products…
How can you save multiple render elements into one exr file in vray ? Is it possible ?
Use VRayVFB, turn on the save to raw image file, enter a filename and simple add .exr as extension instead of vrimg and it will write multilayer exrs.

Thanks a lot
I think we all have had the same question.
They are developed by two different teams within Adobe. There are some lovely discussions with one of the developers on the PS side of things on Adobe’s forums. He explains why the PS team do things the way they do. Not many people agree with him but that’s another story.
It is discussed at length there on Adobe’s forum and doesn’t need repeating here.
Fnord is developing a CS4 version and there is a shaky beta on there site.
I do not think this is possible as I can only save out a .vrimg, has saving out as, .exr using the VRayVFB been disabled? -please confirm?/
As said above it works fine and did so since many builds. It is not shown in the dropdown but if you manually enter it it does work fine.

I think thisbis actually in the help section as well…
A little search goes a long way.
I am using his beta for x64 and so far it works fairly well. I’ve submitted a couple bug reports to him and he has been very responsive and accommodating.
did anything changed can’t get Proexr to work ![]()
Tryed the Vrimg to exr utility and also to save directly in exr !
wonder if the vbf has changed since ?
It works just fine here. Has been for a couple of years now.
Are you setting up any render elements to be saved when you render? If not, all you will get is RGBA.
Sorry was a user error as often ![]()
Bad install of proexr !
Work now.
Have to now see how to use it efficiently.
I’ll try not to use filtering ![]()
Thanks
is openEXR still free?
for AE, but not PS. I bought it this morning.
