progressive render in batch mode

Hello all,

Is there a way to get vray to save the image if i stop a batch render before its reached its specified threshold when using progressive rendering. I am using deadline and if i kill a render half way through then it doesnt save anything out, Any suggestions welcome!

thanks

matt

You can’t save a canceled render job unless you do that manually in the VFB. That is also true for the regular rendering in Maya, where after the canceling you need to save the image manually in the VFB.

not for me, when in maya, and using progressive rendering, if i cancel the render early it automatically saves a file in the temp directory

Maybe you have Auto Save option enabled in the Render history settings? This option will work only if you use the VFB and in batch mode you are not using it, therefore the image doesn’t get saved. You can use VRayStandalone to render but you would need a render manager that can start it.

it also saves down when using maya frame buffer when VFB is disabled in render globals

ill give it a try in deadline

thanks

matt

Apparently I’ve been reviewing the issue with the wrong foot forward, assuming you are saving an exr format. I reproduced the behavior of saving empty vrimg files after canceling the batch job. We’ll look into it and get back to you shortly.

awesome thanks!

I logged the issue. As soon as it gets addressed I’ll let you know.
