Well what i would like to do is compositing in Photoshop CS, (not CS2). I wanted to render out my immages and compose them in Photoshop, cause we often do very big single renders, not so often animations.
i run into problems only with the raw light pass. i just cant find a transfer mode to compose it well to fit the original immage. So now here are my screenshots out of PS, and also the original PS-file.
maybe you see what i am doing wrong..
sorry for the big immages, but otherwise you wouldnt have been able to see enough…

this is the original immage. i switched on on top of the image stack.
this is the image using raw light with the transfermode “linear abwedeln”, i am not quite sure about the englisch word… maybe linear dodge.. ?
the immage with out the raw light pass, which shows, it fits well unto this point to the original image.
I have always wanted to try this method of compositing. I have done a limited amount, rendering out passes I needed. How did you get all of these into PSD?
i allready got a very good answer in another thread, so now it works realy very fine.
and with the new renderelements improvement, when g-buffer elements come out with the standart max renderelements, i think, our beloved psdmanager will again be able to output a psd automaticaly.
hmmm, will it also work with stripeset rendering ?

the diffuse under each. Put the Raw Light+Diffuse in one layer
set and set it to linear Dodge. Put the Raw GI+Diffuse in another

I get the idea what you are doing. I’m just wondering how you got there. Did PSDmanager output that for you? And in just one pass from MAX? Also, does rendering to separated elements like that, does it increase render time significantly?
Well my test is coming out way too dark. Looks like a possible gamma problem? Might have someting to do with linear workflow. I tried both extracting channels from a vrimg file and checking split g-buffer channels in the render dialog with the same result.
i took the immages out of the vrfbuffer, and due it has to calculate all these things also if you dont use them in g-buffer…, it quite doesent take any more time as a usual render.
compositing was done all by hand.
but as somewhre in the forum was told, future vray versions will use the standart renderelements, which will lead again to the possibillity to use psd manager as a rendereffect.
of course, i dont know if when someone would like to render big images with backburner renderstripes, if psd manager would still automated do the thing.
if it would render out nice psd stripes and after this would stitch them together.
also psd manager isnt able to make such nested things as shown above..
so if vlado would implement something, this would still improve it.
